Update on pursuit from last night that ended at NW 14th Street and Hill Street in Grand Prairie
At around 5:40 pm Saturday, Arlington officers responded to the 100 block of W. Pioneer Pkwy to take a stolen vehicle report. The victim told officers he'd left his Chevy Silverado running while he went inside a store to make a quick transaction -- and when he returned to the parking lot, his truck was gone.
Later in the evening, an officer located the pickup truck in the 2100 block of Commerce Drive and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver of the truck did not pull over and continued to drive. The officer then initiated a pursuit.
The pursuit went into Grand Prairie. As they drove along NW 14th St, the pickup truck slowed down. Three males then exited the vehicle and ran. They did not put the pickup in park, so it continued to roll and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle.
Grand Prairie Police helped set up a perimeter around the area. We eventually located one of the three men who bailed from the pickup truck. His name is Luis Martinez. He's 39-years-old. He was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest and Fraudulent Use / Possession of Identifying Documents (officers found personal items belonging to the victim in his pocket).
