Grand Prairie, Texas - A leisurely Sunday afternoon walk turned into a horrifying ordeal for a dog owner named Kelly in the Lake Parks West Community. On May 7, 2023, Kelly and her miniature schnauzer named Henry experienced a brutal attack when two large dogs lunged at Henry. Tragically, the attack resulted in the untimely death of the small dog. Disturbingly, the attacking dogs were unleashed and did not have any collars or identification tags.

Kelly, still traumatized by the incident, recounted the events that unfolded on that fateful day, sometimes pausing during our conversation due to overwhelming emotions from the tragic event. As they walked through the canal crosswalk at Maverick Drive and LaSalle (Near Lake Ridge and Camp Wisdom), the two unleashed dogs suddenly charged at her defenseless leashed Schnauzer. Despite pleading for help, the presumed owner of the attacking dogs callously refused to intervene. In a state of panic, Kelly asked a passing witness who captured part of the aftermath on video to call 911 to report the vicious attack.

Grand Prairie Animal Services was notified and assured Kelly that help was on the way. However, when the Animal Control officer arrived, the two aggressive dogs had mysteriously disappeared.

Seeking justice and resolution, Kelly is determined to share her story with the public. She believes that raising awareness about the incident could help identify the irresponsible dog owners and prevent similar tragedies in the future.

"I want to get this story out and hopefully find the owners to ensure this does not happen to anyone else," expressed the distraught pet owner.

Kelly also told us that she was thankful for the person that was able to capture video of the two dogs that killed Henry or she would not have had any video or photos of the two dogs.

We reached out to Grand Prairie Animal Services for comment but have not heard back yet. We will update this post if we hear back.

If you recognize the dogs seen in the video you can email tips to tips@gptxnews.com.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of responsible pet ownership and the need to keep your dogs on leash while outdoors.
