In a shocking incident that rattled Grand Prairie on Saturday, a teenager was fatally shot on Lake Ridge Parkway. Police have since arrested the alleged perpetrator.
At around 5:30 P.M. on June 10th, Grand Prairie Police were dispatched to the scene of a shooting in the 4400 block of Lake Ridge Parkway. They arrived to find a chilling crime scene. The victim, 17-year-old Erick Munoz, had already been rushed to a local hospital by friends before the police arrived. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Munoz was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital.
A rapid investigation was launched, fueled by witness statements gathered at the scene. The following day, Grand Prairie Police detectives were able to identify the alleged shooter as 18-year-old Anthony Moran.
In a coordinated effort, officers assigned to the United States Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force and the Arlington Police Department were able to apprehend Moran without incident on June 11th. Investigators believe the suspect and the victim were engaged in a disturbance in the vicinity of Lake Ridge Parkway when the confrontation escalated, leading to the fatal shooting.
Moran is currently detained at the Grand Prairie Detention Center. His bond has been set at a hefty $1,000,000, reflecting the gravity of the alleged crime.
While the arrest represents a significant step in the pursuit of justice, the case remains open. The Grand Prairie Police Department continues their thorough investigation into this devastating incident. The community mourns the loss of Erick Munoz as they await further developments in the case.
This is heartbreaking and sad. How senseless is this? What did this accomplish? A dead teen and another in prison. I feel sorry for their parents.
