Shooting in Grand Prairie Leaves One Dead, Suspect Arrested
Fort Worth man charged with murder after an altercation in Grand Prairie ends in a fatal shooting.

Grand Prairie, TX – A fatal shooting occurred Tuesday night, October 1, in the 400 block of E Palace Parkway, leading to the death of one individual and the arrest of a suspect.
According to the Grand Prairie Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 8:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported by medics to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between the suspect and the victim, who were known to each other. The conflict escalated, resulting in the suspect opening fire.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Zahrek Patton of Fort Worth, was located nearby and apprehended by police. Patton is currently being held at the Grand Prairie Detention Center on a murder charge, with bond set at $1 million.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of the next of kin by the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office.
