One person dead after wrapping car around a pole in Arlington crash

On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of W I-20 Freeway regarding a two-vehicle accident.

When officers arrived on scene, there was a 2006 Nissan Murano wrapped around a light pole with an individual trapped inside of the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation suggests the Nissan Murano was traveling in the eastbound lanes of I-20 when the driver attempted to pass a second vehicle (2005 Ford Explorer). While doing so, the driver of the Nissan Murano clipped the second vehicle, lost control, hit a guardrail and came to rest against a light pole. The driver of the Nissan Murano was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel. Investigators believe the Nissan Murano was traveling at a high rate of speed which may have caused the accident.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
