Grand Prairie Fire Department Recovers Body of 22-Year-Old Male from Joe Pool Lake
Grand Prairie, TX - On May 4th, the Grand Prairie Fire Department (GPFD) responded to a possible drowning at Joe Pool Lake. At approximately 5:55 p.m., a witness reported that a swimmer was last seen near location marker LC11 and did not resurface. The Public Safety Dive Team conducted a search and recovered the body of a 22-year-old male.
According to reports, the male swimmer was not wearing a life vest at the time of the incident. The identity of the deceased has not been released and will be done so by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
This unfortunate incident marks the first drowning at Joe Pool Lake for 2023. With the lake season now in full swing, GPFD strongly encourages the public to prioritize safety and wear a life vest or an appropriate personal floating device while near or in the water.
GPFD officials are reminding the public to be vigilant about water safety, especially as the temperatures continue to rise and more people flock to local lakes and swimming holes. They urge all visitors to the lake to exercise caution and remain aware of the risks associated with water activities.
