Family of Lamar High School Shooting Victim Seeks Support Through GoFundMe Campaign
Arlington, TX - A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the family of Jashawn Poirier, the student who tragically lost his life after being fatally shot outside of Lamar High School on Monday morning. Poirier was a friendly, outgoing kid who loved video games, football, and spending time with his friends and family. The GoFundMe organizer, Na’Jai Jacob, who is also Poirier's cousin, expressed her gratitude for any support the community can provide during this difficult time.
The shooting also injured a teenage girl, and both victims are under the age of 17. The suspect, a classmate of the victims, is also a juvenile, and police are withholding his identity.
As of Tuesday, the GoFundMe campaign has raised $3,815 out of a $15,000 goal. Additionally, two prayer vigils will be held in honor of Poirier on Tuesday night. The first will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 6:15 p.m., while the second prayer service will take place in the sanctuary at New World United Methodist Church at 7 p.m.
