Community Remembers Ralph Escobedo: Memorial Gathering Set After Tragic Traffic Incident in Grand Prairie
The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, in the 1000 block of S. Belt Line Road.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., a Nissan passenger car traveling north on Belt Line Road struck a pedestrian, later identified by his family as Ralph Escobedo, who was attempting to cross the roadway. Ralph did not use the designated crossing path when he entered the roadway and was struck. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Nissan remained at the crash scene and is cooperating with investigators. No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
This collision remains under investigation.

The family and community will be hosting a memorial gathering tonight for Ralph at the basketball courts at Mountain Creek Lake, located at 2402 Cardiff Drive, Grand Prairie. A balloon release in his favorite colors, red, black, and white, is scheduled for 8:00pm.
