Arlington Police Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Pedestrian
On Monday, January 9, 2023, at around 7:22 p.m., officers from the Arlington Police Department were dispatched to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 900 block of W. Pioneer Parkway.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found the pedestrian, a 67-year-old man, lying motionless on the side of the road. He was declared dead on the scene.
The investigation revealed that the man was attempting to cross Pioneer Parkway when he was hit by a 2007 Infiniti G35 that was traveling west. He was not using a designated crosswalk at the time.
The driver of the Infiniti remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He is not facing any criminal charges in relation to this incident.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will reveal the identity of the deceased once the next of kin have been notified.
The Arlington Police Department reminds the public to always use traffic lights and designated crosswalks when crossing roads. Crossing roads outside of designated areas is dangerous at all times, but especially when visibility is low during nighttime.
